Hello and welcome to my shiny new blog.
Generally, this is the part where I tell you a little about myself, but I'm afraid that's not going to happen in any great detail. The world being what it is (flat, filled with tubes, growing smaller, etc.) I'm keeping myself to myself and using this blog mostly to post reviews or thoughts of various media, such as movies, tv, comics, books, games, and anything else that I think deserves my time and attention.
This space is going to be kept largely politics free (I say "largely" because there are going to be things that I can't help mentioning in some contexts, just because of the way my brain works), because I have a job in politics, and I would like to keep it. I'll post a few links to new articles or other blogs, probably, but I don't plan to comment myself. Not in this blog, anyway.
I started posting on Slate.com, before it went to hell, then I on myspace.com mostly just to keep track of my brother's rock band. I have several blog posts from myspace that I'll post here to keep the content flowing on a (hopefully) fairly current pace. So if some reviews seem a touch dated, well, that's most likely why.
To give you an idea where I'm coming from, here's some basic biographical information: I'm in my early 30's, single, I have a messy home, an energetic dog, and a nice DVD collection. I have a law degree, but no interest in practicing, a political job in my state government (which is going to expire in a couple of months), and interests in film, comics, games, and doing things the way I damn well please. Anything else you'll have to figure out on your own.
